Update from 黑料视频鈥檚 final Board meeting of 2023
黑料视频鈥檚 Board of Directors met in Ottawa, following our largest Hill Day yet and meetings of our highly engaged National Advisory Councils.
黑料视频 Board considers updated scope definition
Recognizing the important role our members play in housing 鈥� from multi-unit builds to enabling infrastructure like roads, clean water, power connection and sewage 鈥� 黑料视频 will be revising its current definition of representing firms that work in the 鈥渋ndustrial, commercial, institutional and civil鈥� sector to also to include the multi-residential/mixed-use sector. The final wording will be approved at the Board meeting in March 2024.
Two new training programs will be made available through our integrated partner associations
- In support of the industry鈥檚 effort to be more inclusive, 黑料视频 has partnered with WomanAct to offer micro-courses to address harassment. These will be provided through our integrated partner associations at no cost to members and will be available in early 2024.
- 黑料视频 will be launching the Building Skills for Climate Change: Low-Carbon Training Program, funded in part by the Government of Government of Canada鈥檚 Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program and the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC).
Offered virtually through our integrated partner associations in the federally mandated provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario, this complimentary training program aims at upskilling building professionals to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon practices, reduce emissions, and contribute to Canada鈥檚 Climate Action Plan.
黑料视频鈥檚 governance gets stamp of approval
Each year 黑料视频 invites partners and members involved in 黑料视频鈥檚 governance to complete a 鈥減ulse check鈥� survey. We use this feedback to gather suggestions on potential areas to improve.
At least 84 per cent of those surveyed agreed with the following statements that:
- The Board is effective.
- 黑料视频 has adopted proven governance methods and tools.
- NACs help to advance engagement and NACs provide useful insight to inform 黑料视频’s priorities.
Of note this year, is the improvement in the reported effectiveness of the NACs. In responding to feedback from last year鈥檚 survey, the NACs have a new mandate to identify and deliver solutions to issues in alignment with 黑料视频鈥檚 strategic plan. The NACs are now directly contributing to 黑料视频鈥檚 advocacy and best practices initiatives.
In 2024, 黑料视频 will undertake a fulsome governance review to ensure we are evolving with best practices. Our goal remains to be governed effectively with an engaged membership.
Succession
With Mary Van Buren鈥檚 announcement to step down from 黑料视频 as of April 30, 2024 to pursue other interests after six years of outstanding service to the Association, the Board held an in-camera discussion on her succession. Stay tuned for further news.

2024 Annual Conference registration is selling quickly!
The 黑料视频 Annual Conference will take place in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from March 12-15, 2024. Our pre-business meetings will take place on March 10-11 and require separate registration.
